I live in Birmingham, Michigan, with my husband Kyle, our son Nathan and our daughter Evelyn. The blog is named for our late dog Pete, a Rhodesian Ridgeback who died in 2014. Late in 2015, we returned to the US after living five years overseas (Seoul, South Korea and Königstein im Taunus, Germany).

Halfsies!

Nathan is now a year-and-a-half old!
I know, I can't believe it, either.

Well, what else does a person do on their half-birthday but have a check up with Doctor Yoo and maybe get a flu shot?!  Er, wait...

Anyway:
Getting weighed and measured
Look at that polite Korean handoff! (Empty hand touching the giving hand's forearm)
No, I'm not depressed, why? Oh, you said tongue depressor...

How'd I do, Doc?
Natey said some of his words for Doctor Yoo, gave her a kiss and danced for her. She declared him to be a happy, jolly boy (with an impressive head circumference in a percentile of his very own).

Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Our holiday week got off to a bit of a slow start when Natey came down with a little stomach bug. Not fun for anyone. But sometimes, you gotta skip Gymboree and just cuddle on the couch with Mommy :)

Feeling better (after a messy episode in the car...you don't want to know)
Not sure why Mommy is allowing binky and blankets outside of the crib, but thinking I should just go with it

Rested and ready for some fun

By Thanksgiving he was more like himself and we celebrated with the American Women's Club and hosted two Military Service People--Ryan and Corey were delightful and it was sincerely our pleasure to host them. It was a great event (I have no pictures because I wasn't feeling well, sorry). Today we rested, as Kyle and I caught Nathan's bug. We have so much for which to be thankful and are looking forward to the rest of the weekend. Go Blue!

Running With Scissors

On Sunday Nathan had his first "real" haircut. (This summer I trimmed the back a little bit because he was growing a tail--not the look I was going for). One more step away from baby, one giant leap toward little boy.
Poor kid: Took him a year and a half to grow a head of hair and now we're cutting it off!
Here we go!
Hmmm--Daddy seems ok with this...
Not too sure
That tickles!
Look at me, Daddy!

Ok, seriously, how long is this going to take?
Ahh--feels lighter already!
I think I like it!

PS--This post marks my 69th entry in 2012, officially besting my 68 entries for 2011! Thanks very much to those that read the blog (and gently remind me when I have taken too much time between posts). Your readership truly touches me. Again, thank you. sbc

Twice the Fun

Nathan's friends Stefi and Malu (twin sisters) turned two this week. Leticia (their mom) rented out Little Prince Cafe. For the morning, the kids had the run of the place. Oh-what-fun!

Two birthday girls, two cakes, twice the fun!

Let's go to a party!

Giddy Up! He fell IN LOVE with the carousel.

Not a big fan of having help on his horse (or he was scared of this dude...)

Um, can you make this thing go faster?
Choo choo!

Come on over to my-a-house!

Pause and reflect. How does one get these balloons inside this tunnel?

All of us

Beautiful cakes

Two Weeks of Gymboree Glee!

To say Nathan has fun at Gymboree is an understatement.  The only thing I think he gets more excited about is swimming.

Here are a few shots from last two weeks of the glee that is Gymboree...
Over, under, around and through
Hi, Mom!
After Gymboree, we often join some other moms and kids for coffee (or hide and seek!)
Chloe hearts Nathan and spent most of the class trying to hug him :)
If this kid hears music, he will dance! Here he is getting his groove on just before parachute time...

Did someone say BUBBLES?!
(check out Chloe going in for a stealth side hug)

The Race That Stops A Nation: Year Three

I was doing so well, there (for a while), with my updates, wasn't I? Oh well, here I am!

It was my third year attending one of my favorite events, the Melbourne Cup hosted by ANZA.  Don't get me wrong, I had a great time, but I have to admit, the shine is just a little bit off the apple. Kinda felt like "Been there, done that.
Feeling very "been there, done that" when I sent this self pic to my sissies and mom en route to event
But, who am I to complain--what is so tough about getting all dressed up, putting on a full face of make up and donning a silly (large) hat to drink champagne with my friends--in the morning, no less? Nothing!

My dear friend Bronwyn (leaving in April)
Joanna and I are the only two left from our table three years ago (she's leaving in April, too)!
Fun with the Aussie table! (Directly above me is Marika, leaving in January--are you sensing a theme?)

Clean Sweep

This kid loves a vacuum cleaner. Whether it is our Korean canister vacuum or our American one, he can't get enough. Sigh, a boy and his Dyson...

I will hug you...
And kiss you...
And call you George
True love!
