I live in Birmingham, Michigan, with my husband Kyle, our son Nathan and our daughter Evelyn. The blog is named for our late dog Pete, a Rhodesian Ridgeback who died in 2014. Late in 2015, we returned to the US after living five years overseas (Seoul, South Korea and Königstein im Taunus, Germany).

Don't Be Sad It's Over, Be Glad It Happened

Note to Readers: I am posting the fun of our summer while simultaneously doing my best to keep you up to date on "the now." So, the posts flip back and forth from June and July to the present day...and back again. Sooner or later, we'll be all caught up! Sorry for any confusion. sbc
As July came to a close, so did our lovely holiday. Time to start the goodbyes. First, lunch with Crocketts:

I love this picture of Sandy and the kids
After ice cream we went back to my Mom and Dad's so Evy could open all her birthday presents from Nana and Grandpa. Thanks for all the great clothes and cuddly stuffed animal!

Next, goodbye time with Robinsons, Allens, Gram and Beepa, including one last story time with Uncle Matt:

What a fun visit.

Jess knows I love to organize, so every once in a while she asks me to come over and tackle a couple of things that are bugging her. To make the most of my last trip to Metro Detroit, I arranged to also meet up with some of our good friends that we met while living in Seoul. Talk about a full dance card!

Hadi was nice enough to not only take our kids while Jess and I spent the day organizing the Allen house, but also host the evening fête so that I didn't have to come home by the kids' bedtime. On top of that, she made her delicious guac and our "sandbar cottage lemonade!"

And more big thanks to Hadi and Jess for making a fun evening with the kids while I enjoyed adult time.  These pictures remind me of a big part of the "why" that I liked Seoul so much.

Thanks for hosting and babysitting, Hadi!

As you know, Michelle and I grew up together, including many-a-summer weekend at the White Cottage.  I am very thankful to Michelle and her family for making the trek up again this summer so the next generation of kids at the cottage can start making memories.

After a nice week at the cottage, we were glad to get back to DeWitt and have some fun on more family outings. One of our favorite places is the park with our cousins:

How do you get this thing open?
